Who is responsible

Roan Woltmeijer and Willem Veldhuizen jointly operate Hobbify and are responsible for its handling of personal information. Hobbify is not currently a registered company. Reach both founders at contact@hobbify.nl.

Information we use

Account information includes your name, username, email, password hash, age confirmation and acceptance dates. Optional information includes your avatar, biography, website and location. We also store selected hobbies, progress, projects, posts, comments, likes, follows, saved content, reports and blocks.

For security and operation, we process session identifiers, device/browser descriptions, timestamps, hashed network addresses and sign-in attempts. Hosting access logs may contain IP addresses and requested pages. Internal product events record an action, page path, timestamp and account or session-derived identifier. These identifiers are not treated as anonymous data.

Purposes and legal bases

We use information needed to provide the account and community features you request to perform our agreement with you. We use security records and moderation information for our legitimate interests in preventing misuse, protecting members and operating the service. Limited internal usage measurements help us understand which activities and features work; we rely on our legitimate interest in improving Hobbify and you may object to that use. We may retain information when necessary to meet a legal obligation.

Optional profile fields and sharing are your choice. You can leave them blank or remove them. Agreeing to the terms is not blanket consent to advertising or unrelated uses of your data.

Cookies and browser storage

A session cookie keeps you signed in and protects forms. Quiz choices and starter-plan progress may be saved in your browser so you can continue later. Clearing browser storage removes that local progress; account-saved progress remains. We do not currently use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, heatmaps or session recordings.

Email

We send essential email for account verification, password recovery, and password or email changes. We do not send marketing, like, comment, follower or starter-reminder emails. Changing your email requires confirmation at the new address before it replaces your current one.

Who can see information

Public profiles and contributions are visible to visitors internationally. Private notes and drafts are kept out of public feeds. Administrators can access account information for service operation, support and moderation; moderators review community reports. Hostinger supplies hosting and email services. Information you email to support is available to the founders monitoring that inbox.

We do not sell your personal information and currently have no advertisers. Hosting location and any international-transfer arrangements depend on our Hostinger service configuration. Contact us for the relevant provider and transfer details; public posting itself makes your chosen content available internationally.

Retention

We keep account information while your account is active, unless you delete it or request erasure. Our operational targets are: unused unverified registrations 30 days, detailed product events 90 days, security/sign-in records 30 days unless needed for an incident, closed moderation records 12 months, and closed support conversations six months. We review inactive accounts after 24 months; this is not an automatic account-deletion deadline.

Automated retention scheduling and provider backup/log settings are still being configured. These periods are targets, not a claim that every existing record is already automatically deleted on schedule. Backup copies may remain until replaced or removed; contact us about a specific request. We do not currently produce a separate long-term anonymous analytics dataset.

Account deletion

Account settings let you choose to remove your contributions or retain published public posts, projects and comments under deleted_user. Your ordinary account profile, private notes, drafts, collections, sessions and linked account analytics are removed in either case. Attachments that are no longer referenced are removed through cleanup. Backups and separately held support or incident records are handled separately.

A replacement username does not anonymise identifying text or photos. Remove those details before choosing to retain public contributions, or contact us for help. Other people may have copied public content outside Hobbify.

Your rights and contact

Depending on the applicable law, you can request access, correction, erasure, restriction, a portable copy, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it. Email contact@hobbify.nl; we may ask for proportionate verification to protect your account. Never send your password or reset link. Our three-day support response target does not replace the deadlines applicable to privacy requests.

You can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority or your relevant local supervisory authority. Hobbify accounts are for adults aged 18 and over. Contact us if you believe a child has created an account.
